About Us

Welcome to St Patrick’s Girls’ National School, Gardiner’s Hill, Cork City

We are a Girls School, situated in Cork City on Gardiner’s Hill with pedestrian access just off Ballyhooley Road. We are a school with a Christian ethos, under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Cork and Ross. We have classes from First class to Sixth class with pupils between the ages of seven and thirteen.

We strive for excellence in all areas of a child’s development. This involves promoting courtesy and respect and self-discipline, honesty and trustworthiness, tolerance, loyalty and generosity in all the children. Enhancement of self-esteem is fostered through curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Literacy and Numeracy are priority school subjects. Specialist programmes in Visual and Performing Arts, Science and Physical Education provide our students with outstanding opportunities to discover and develop their interests and skills.

St. Patrick’s Girls’ NS fosters a strong community spirit. Students take up a wide range of leadership roles and actively participate in the Student Council and Green Schools Committee. Parents are actively involved in a wide range of school programs at all levels including Preparation for the Sacraments, Fundraising, Board of Management and Parents’ Group and Home School Links activities.

Over recent years the school has been refurbished. It provides a stimulating environment for all our educational activities. Please feel free to browse our site to see all the wonderful things we do at school.

Our School Motto

School Calendar

Dóchas is Grá

Our wish for each pupil is that her years in our school will be happy and joyful, filled with a sense of hope and love. As she leaves us for Secondary School, we hope that each girl will be endowed with a sense of self-worth along with a sense of spirituality to help her face the future with courage and self-confidence. Our aspiration is that she may never lose her sense of wonder and she will always have a feeling to the feelings of others.

Mission Statement

We in St Patrick’s Girls National School, aided by the Department of Education and Skills and our Catholic ethos, work together to create a progressive learning community. Our school is a happy, active, safe environment where we include, encourage and respect each other. Together we provide an excellent academic education. Our learning makes us ambitious to develop our full potential as balanced and confident citizens.
