Week 13 Monday 22nd June to Friday 26th June
Dear parents, guardians and girls,
I cannot believe that I am sitting down to write my last letter to you all!
When we started out last September, little did we know how your final year in primary school would turn out. You may be thinking of all the things that you didn’t get to do this year but before Covid we managed to do lots. We started out with our weekly swimming lessons in Mayfield Swimming Pool, followed by seeing Judi Curtin in Mayfield Library in October. Remember your Marine Life projects, Science Week, Maths Week, the Service of Light, upcycling old CDs and magazines with Jessica, Junior Achievement and leading the Christmas Carol Service. Can you remember the rain that day and having to get the Garda bus to avoid getting wet! A lot of you girls sang at the airport or in the AIB on South Mall. We also took a trip to the Christmas Markets in St. Patrick’s Secondary School. And that was all before Christmas!
Continuing on into this year some of you girls performed in the Credit Union Quiz. We hosted a fabulous Cake Sale in our classroom on St. Valentine’s Day, we took a trip to the City Hall to see the army band and in early March we visited Blackrock Castle to do electricity experiments and observe outer space. And of course back in the classroom we were busy doing lots of English, Irish, Maths and other curricular activities. It was great to see some of your work sent in on emails in the past few weeks. Be proud of all that you have done this academic year.
Parents I would like to thank you for all your support throughout the year and particularly over the last few months. You have been faced with huge challenges which the lockdown and homeschooling have brought and I am grateful for your cooperation during this time.
Girls, I want to wish you all the very best as you embark on a new stage of your lives. You probably feel both excited and nervous! That is all normal! My wish for you is for you not to put too much pressure on yourself. Believe in yourself, try hard but know your limits. Ask if you need help and always listen to advice. Smile often and be positive. Compliment others and be proud of your own accomplishments.
This week is fun packed with tours attached and sporting activities. The padlet below allows you to go on various virtual school tours and take part in so many sporting and mindful challenges. You choose what interests you.
Kind regards and best wishes for a happy and healthy summer.
