Printmaking Art workshop with the Mayfield Arts Centre
Day 1:
On the 21st of February, Pancake Tuesday, the girls in 5th class were so excited. Not just for pancakes but because Etaoin from the Mayfield Arts Centre was coming in to do a printmaking workshop with us. Today started with making collages.
Firstly, she gave us a square piece of paper and lots of magazines such as the National Geographic.
Next we cut out anything we thought was interesting from the magazine and stuck it onto the square paper. The theme was nature and everybody made lovely collages

Day Two
Today the 1st of March Etaoin came to our school. She came to show us how to print. First, we all got a piece of small rectangle glass. We also got a tool like a scissors it had a sharp pointy top like a needle so we had to be really careful. Next, we went to the top of the room to get a picture of a flower or we could use a photo from our collage that we done last week. Etaoin explained that we would scrape the image onto the glass but before we started we had to put duct tape on the two ends of the glass so it didn’t move. We had a great day with Etaoin and we are so thankful for her visit

Day Three
On Thursday the 7th of march Etaoin from the Mayfield Arts Centre came for art. She brought in a printing press for our etchings we carved last week. First, we applied black ink to our etchings and used mesh to clean off most of the ink. Then we used blue tissue to clean any extra ink. Then we got coloured ink for our second etching[I used green]. Once we finished Etaoin placed our etchings on paper and put them through the printing press. Once that was done we left our paper on the windowsill to dry. Finally we gave Etaoin our thank you cards and and said goodbye
