There is a great record of punctuality and excellent attendance in St. Patrick’s Girls National School.  The following points may be useful to parents and guardians.

The school doors open each day at 8.30 every morning. Children should aim to arrive for this time as it gives them a chance to have some relaxing chat time with their friends.

Please write a note in the School Journal the day before the appointment. Include the time when the pupil is expected to arrive on the following day. This means the teacher can mark your daughter LATE and then record them present when your daughter arrives.

Please write a note in the School Journal informing the teacher of the early collection. Come to the office to Siobhán, our secretary and she will phone the classroom and your daughter will come to reception.

Give a ring to Siobhán in the office and she will let the teacher know that your daughter is out.  The school needs a note on the day your daughter returns to school. There are blank templates at the back of the School Journal which may be filled in. These notes are kept as record until the end of the school year.

When your child has missed 10 days of school, the school will send a text to notify you of this. Once your child misses 12 days or over, Ms Crosse our Deputy Principal will request a meeting with you.

If for any reason a child is absent for a total of 20 days or more, the school is OBLIGED to inform the Educational Welfare Services which is now under the auspices of Túsla, the Child and Family Agency (www.tusla.ie)
